Navigating Through a “Season of Pruning”

Odette

In recent times I spoke about the transformative "season of pruning," I shared a glimpse of the powerful journey I underwent last year. As we warmly welcome the winter season, it's not just about cozying up but also about embracing the beauty of intentional pruning. I noticed I didn't fully unpack what the season of pruning involves, and today, I'm eager to make up for that. Join me as we uncover the magic of the Pruning season, shining a light on its essential role in nurturing "Seasonal Growth." Get ready for a deep dive into the incredible influence of purposeful pruning this winter season!

As commonly understood, pruning involves "cutting off or cutting back parts for a better shape or more fruitful growth." Applying this concept to our lives, becoming our best selves, and experiencing transformative beauty necessitates shedding certain desires, temptations, habits, influences, and mindsets. This process may also involve divine intervention, where God, in His wisdom, undertakes some of the pruning. In these instances, the signs might manifest as changes in relationships, unexpected job shifts, or other noticeable transformations. The Pruning season isn't always a walk in the park, as there are moments when we may find it challenging to comprehend. In certain instances, we might not even recognize that the process is unfolding until its culmination, unless, of course, it was a deliberate choice.

Side Note: Pruning isn't a one-and-done deal; it's just a natural part of the whole life gig. Sometimes you don't even realize you're in the middle of it until it's almost over – at least that was my story. Sure, I made some calls on my own, but when I finally clued in, I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. After a moment, though, I told myself to zoom out and take in the bigger picture. Life's like that, you know? Always keeping us on our toes. In the thick of a Pruning season, it's completely human to toss around questions, complaints, and a bit of frustration. But, hey, let's be smart about it. Instead of just firing off questions, take a breather and consider the bigger picture – your future. Think about what you're gunning for, those dreams, visions, and goals. Envision the person you're aiming to become in the next chapter. Remember all those prayers you've thrown out there? Now, take a good look at your circumstances. Can't you see that a bit of pruning might be just what the doctor ordered?

Even when it feels like your whole world is doing cartwheels, remember, pruning is like backstage prep for where you're headed in the next season. Seriously, who wants to drag along toxic baggage into a fresh, positive chapter? If it's the big guy upstairs doing the pruning, you can bet He's gearing you up for something bigger, better, and brighter. So, buckle up and get ready because you're about to level up in this game called Life! If you're curious about the signs that you might be going through pruning, here's the lowdown:

  • Your priorities take a shift, and your mindset starts leaning more towards the Godly than the Worldly.

  • You might feel a bit like you're under fire – facing persecution, judgment, or rejection.

  • Suddenly, it's all about depending on God, no more solo missions. Allowing Him to lead the way

  • Your calendar seems to have more God-time penciled in.

  • There might be a bit of intentional isolation, a time to recharge and refocus

  • Your faith is Tested

So, if you're ticking these boxes, congratulations – you're amid some serious pruning! YAYYYY!!

In all honesty, there are moments when you've got to gracefully step aside, embrace the silence, and keep your journey a bit more private as you go through that pruning phase. It's about acknowledging situations for what they are. Take the time to heal, extend forgiveness, and gracefully move forward, or if necessary, make that bold decision to step aside. Remember, the importance of pruning is all about saving yourself, preserving your inner peace, and safeguarding your sanity. You've got this – it's a journey toward your best self.
